	GreenGuard® GreenGuard® is a certification given to products by the GreenGuard Environmental Institute. GEI is an non profit organization formed as an independent that oversees the certification of products. They rate acceptable indoor air quality standards for indoor products. Their mission is to improve public health and quality of life through programs that improve air quality. GEI acts as an industry-independent, third party testing program. The GreenGuard® certification promises that the product you are putting into your project is not releasing harmful chemicals into the air. There  is also a special certification for environments for kids called GREENGUARD for Children and Schools.  This certification does not promise that the process of making the product is green friendly nor is it a certification that  confirms that the company making the product participates in green practices, although some companies are making efforts  to use recycled content in newer designs of their products.
